donate for SacDoc

A visitor suggested I create an easy way to donate to the SacDoc cause. "I read your site," she said "but couldn't figure out how to send you money." That's easy, I thought. I'll just put a PayPal button on the site.

My friends and associates then suggested that I create a 501(c) corporation so the donations would be tax-deductible. I'd need a separate bank account and corporate structure, books to keep track of the donations, accountants and lawyers to make sure it was all legal and stuff.

My head hurts. That's just the kind of administrative overhead I don't want in my life. I've invested years of my life and hundreds of thousands of dollars in SacDoc so far, and nothing on administrative overhead. I would like to make sure that -- for now -- all available time and money go to the mission, not to bureaucracy. The time for professional corporate organization and structure will come, but for now I need to keep things simple.

If you donate, I intend to use every dime to further the creation of the SacDoc-modeled psychiatric clinic I've described in these pages. I offer no accountability, though. If you choose to donate, you'd best assume that I am going to take the millions I collect and join Bernie Madoff at some island paradise low-security Federal penitentiary after living large for a decade or two. You'll never see the money again, but if I have any say in the matter, you'll finally see humane community psychiatric care in Sacramento County.

If you want to take a big risk and help create a community mental health system by and for the community, then...
